Ruling Elders

Mike Brown
Mike Brown’s father was career Air Force, so being raised as part of a family of five children in that context shaped his early life. He first encountered the gospel as a college student, majoring in P.E. at East Tennessee State University, and has now invested 44 years in vocational and student ministry, 9 of those years in Kenya. Mike met his wife, Debbie, while serving together in Kenya and they’ve been blessed with 40+ years together, raising two wonderful daughters, who both married great husbands, with three cherished grandchildren. Mike has stepped into this new challenge of eldership out of a desire to continue taking steps of faith towards God’s call to serve His church, consistently taking steps to grow in his personal relationship with Him. In Mike’s spare time he enjoys watching his grandchildren play soccer and softball, and all things automotive.

Eric and April moved to the area from Texas in 2003 to join the staff of Athletes in Action, based in Xenia. Basketball and Golf are two sports that he still loves to play and watch, but takes on some woodworking projects as a way to retreat and think about life. He and April, otherwise known as Pops and Nellie, have two kids and four grandkids. The grandkids are split between Dayton and Western Kentucky and he loves to play fort and lion with them all! Eric and April both enjoy live music, good conversation and spending time with the Lord and together at their solar cabin in Colorado. They both love being a part of the Kings Cross community.

Gary Recker
Originally from Tiffin, Ohio, Gary Recker has been an industrial arts teacher at Dayton Christian School since 2017 and, prior to that, had his own custom woodworking business. He loves his day job, as he gets to talk about things he loves, like God and building things, all while teaching high schoolers to glorify the Lord through the work of their hands. He has two adult children who live in California and Maine, two granddaughters and one grandson. In his spare time, you can find Gary working on a garage/carriage-house addition (to become his home wood shop) or tackling whatever home projects his wife Mary Ann conjures up.
